COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Malfunction of speaker or tweeter
  • Malfunctions of radio and CD player
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Checking with audio speaker check

Perform the audio speaker check, and check which speaker does not output the sound. Refer to .
note In the following procedure, check the speaker or tweeter that is abnormal.

Q. Is the check result normal?

YES (normal for all) : The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
NO (abnormal for all) : Check the radio and CD player power supply and earth circuit, and repair if necessary. If the radio and CD player power supply and earth circuit is normal, replace the radio and CD player.
NO (Either a speaker is abnormal) : Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Connector check: D-09 <front-LH>, D-08 <front-RH>, B-123 <LH>, B-105 <RH> tweeter connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 3. Check the speaker or tweeter.

(1)Remove the speaker or tweeter. Refer to .
(2)Check that the speaker or tweeter outputs the noise when the voltage of 5 V is applied to the speaker or tweeter connector terminal.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Replace the speaker or tweeter.

STEP 4. Connector check: B-104 radio and CD player connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 5. Check the wire harness between the speaker or tweeter connector terminal and the radio and CD player connector terminal.

Check the communication lines for open circuit or short circuit.

  • <Front door speaker (LH)> Check the wire harness between D-09 front door speaker (LH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and B-104 radio and CD player connector terminal No.5, 13.
note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector B-22 and B-120, and repair if necessary.
  • <Front door speaker (RH)> Check the wire harness between D-08 front door speaker (RH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and B-104 radio and CD player connector terminal No.6, 14.
note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector B-109 and B-120, and repair if necessary.
  • <Tweeter (LH)> Check the wire harness between B-123 tweeter (LH) connector terminal No.2, 1 and B-104 radio and CD player connector terminal No.5, 13.
  • <Tweeter (RH)> Check the wire harness between B-105 tweeter (RH) connector terminal No.2, 1 and B-104 radio and CD player connector terminal No.6, 14.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the radio and CD player.
Repair the wiring harness.
