ECU
Engine-ECU
Effects control to actuate the actuators in accordance with the driving conditions, based on the signals input by the sensors.
Sensors
Ignition switch-IG
Detects the ignition switch-IG ON/OFF signals. The engine-ECU turns the engine control relay ON/OFF in accordance with these signals.
Ignition switch-ST
Detect the ignition switch-ST ON/OFF signals. The engine-ECU turns the starter relay ON/OFF in accordance with these signals.
Accelerator pedal position sensors (main and sub)
Detects the position of the accelerator pedal and input it into the engine-ECU. Based on the voltage output by these sensors, the engine-ECU controls fuel injection amount in accordance with the accelerator pedal position.
Rail pressure sensor
Detects the fuel pressure in the common rail and input it into the engine-ECU. The engine-ECU uses the voltage that is output by this sensor to regulate the fuel pressure in the common rail.
Engine coolant temperature sensor
Contains a thermistor to detect the engine coolant temperature. The engine-ECU determines the warm-up condition of the engine based on the signals output by this sensor, and controls the pre-glow time and fuel injection amount.
Fuel temperature sensor
Contains a thermistor to detect the fuel temperature. Based on the voltage that is output by this sensor, the engine-ECU corrects the fuel injection amount to suit the fuel temperature.
Crank angle sensor
Detects the engine speed and crankshaft position. Based on this signal, the engine-ECU controls the fuel injection amount and fuel injection timing.
Air flow sensor
Measures the current air mass. The engine-ECU calculates the exhaust gas recirculation rate based on this output signal.
Air temperature sensor
Contains a thermistor to detect the air temperature. Based on the voltage that is output by this sensor, the engine-ECU corrects the fuel injection amount and the fuel injection timing.
Intake air temperature sensor
Contains a thermistor to detect the intake air temperature. Based on the voltage that is output by this sensor, the engine-ECU corrects the fuel injection amount and the fuel injection timing.
Camshaft position sensor
Detects the No. 1 cylinder compression top dead centre position by means of a Hall element.
Intake air pressure sensor
Detects the absolute pressure in the inlet manifold. The engine-ECU uses the voltage that is output by this sensor to control the boost pressure.
Barometric pressure sensor
Detects the barometric pressure. The engine-ECU corrects the boost pressure and EGR amount to suit the barometric pressure.
EGR valve position sensor
Detect the opening amount of the EGR valve and input it into the engine-ECU. Based on the voltage output by these sensors, the engine-ECU effects feedback control for the EGR valve position.
Throttle position sensor
Detect the position of the throttle valve and input it into the engine-ECU. Based on the voltage output by these sensors, the engine-ECU effects feedback control for the throttle valve position.
Variable geometry position sensor
Detect the position of the variable geometry control motor and input it into the engine-ECU. Based on the voltage output by these sensors, the engine-ECU effects feedback control for the variable geometry control motor position.
Proportional oxygen sensor
The proportional oxygen sensor is used to detect the excess-air factor "Lambda" in the exhaust gas. The engine-ECU calculates the exhaust gas recirculation rate based on this output signal.
Exhaust gas temperature sensor
Detect the exhaust gas temperature at the downstream of the catalytic converter and input it into the engine-ECU. The engine-ECU uses the voltage output by those sensors for controlling the DPF regeneration.
Exhaust differential pressure sensor
Detects the pressure difference between upstream exhaust gas pressure of the DPF and the atmospheric pressure. The engine-ECU assumes the rate of PM anticipates in the DPF using the voltage output by this sensor.
Alternator FR terminal
This terminal is used for detecting the duty cycle ratio that energizes the alternator field coil.
Engine oil pressure switch
Detects the conditions of the engine oil pressure and inputs it to the engine-ECU.
Cruise control switch
Detects the ON of cruise switch and inputs it to the engine-ECU.
Stop lamp switch
Detects the depression of brake pedal and inputs it to engine-ECU.
Clutch switch
Detects the depression of clutch pedal and inputs it to the engine-ECU.
Glow diagnosis signal
Detects the malfunction of the glow system and inputs it to the engine-ECU.
Actuators
Injectors
Inject fuel in accordance with the actuation signals provided by the engine-ECU.
High pressure fuel regulator
Controls the fuel pressure in the fuel rail in accordance with the signals provided by the engine-ECU.
Fuel flow regulator
Adjusts the fuel flow into the fuel rail in accordance with the signals provided by the engine-ECU. This allows controlling the fuel pressure in the common rail.
Engine control relay
In accordance with the signals provided by the engine-ECU, this relay controls the power supply for the engine-ECU, sensors and actuators.
Glow plug relay
Controls the actuation of the glow plugs in accordance with the signals provided by the engine-ECU.
A/C compressor relay
Controls the actuation of the A/C compressor in accordance with the signals provided by the engine-ECU.
Throttle valve control motor
Controls the throttle valve opening angle in accordance with the signals provided by the engine-ECU.
Swirl control solenoid valve
Open and close the swirl control valve in accordance with the signals provided by the engine-ECU.
EGR valve (DC motor)
Controls the exhaust gas recirculation flow volume in accordance with the signal provided by the engine-ECU.
EGR cooler solenoid valve
Open and close the exhaust flap in accordance with the signal provided by the engine-ECU.
Variable geometry control motor
Controls the angle of the variable nozzle in accordance with the signals provided by the engine-ECU.
Proportional oxygen sensor heater
Controls the current applied to the proportional oxygen sensor heater circuit in accordance with the signals from the engine-ECU.
Alternator L terminal
Controls the initiating excitation current to the alternator in accordance with the signals provided by the engine-ECU.
Fuel pump relay
Controls the power supplied to the fuel pump in accordance with the signals provided by the engine-ECU.
Starter relay
Controls the power supplied to the starter in accordance with the signals provided by the engine-ECU.
