Inspection Procedure 2: The buzzer does not sound.



caution Before replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.


PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. AVAS-OFF indicator illumination check


When the power supply mode of electric motor switch is turned on, check whether the AVAS-OFF indicator illuminates for three seconds.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Go to symptom procedure 1 "When the power supply mode of electric motor switch is turned on, the AVAS-OFF indicator does not illuminate (Does not illuminate as initial check)." .

STEP 2. Acoustic vehicle alerting speaker check.


(1)
caution When the acoustic vehicle alerting speaker is checked, the speaker must not be disassembled.
Visually check the acoustic vehicle alerting speaker for foreign material adhesion or contamination.
(2)Measure the resistance value between the acoustic vehicle alerting speaker terminals. Refer to .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Replace a defective acoustic vehicle alerting speaker.

STEP 3. Check of open circuit in (SPK+, SPK-) line between acoustic vehicle alerting speaker ECU connector and acoustic vehicle alerting-ECU connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Check the trouble symptom.


Replace the acoustic vehicle alerting-ECU temporarily, then check if the AVAS operate.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the acoustic vehicle alerting-ECU.

Go to symptom procedure 6 "The speaker does not sound when the brake pedal is released with the vehicle stationary (The selector lever position displayed on the combination meter is NOT "P" with the engine stopped)" .
