INSPECTION PROCEDURE 4: Drive battery power consumption or the abnormalities in a residual quantity display

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

The following causes are suspected.

  • Ambient temperature is low during charging.
  • Harsh driving which consumes the drive battery
  • The air conditioner is used severely.

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • The tyre inflation pressures are low.
  • Brake drag
  • Malfunction of wheel alignment

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check the tyre pressure.

note For information on tyre inflation pressure, refer to the label attached to the centre pillar on the driver’s side.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

    Adjust the tyre pressure.

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Use M.U.T.-III to check whether the BMU related diagnosis code is stored. (Refer to ).

Q. Is any diagnosis code stored?

Troubleshoot for the relevant diagnosis code.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check brake drag force.

Refer to GROUP 35A - Brake Drag Check .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Disassemble the brake caliper assembly and check for fouling and rust on the piston sliding section and deterioration of piston seal, and check the sliding status of the guide pin and lock pin.(Refer to GROUP 35A - Front Disc Brake or Rear Disc Brake ).

STEP 4. Check wheel alignment

Check the front wheel alignment and rear wheel alignment. (Refer to GROUP 33 - Front Wheel Alignment Check and Adjustment or GROUP 34 - Rear Wheel Alignment Check and Adjustment .)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Adjust the wheel alignment (Refer to GROUP 33 - Front Wheel Alignment Check and Adjustment or Refer to GROUP 34 - Rear Wheel Alignment Check and Adjustment ).

STEP 5. Check the drive battery charge level.

Measure the drive battery charge level (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Charge the drive battery by the normal charging process again.

STEP 6. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Use M.U.T.-III to check whether the PHEV-ECU-related diagnosis code is stored (Refer to ).

Q. Is any diagnosis code stored?

Troubleshoot for the relevant diagnosis code.
Go to Step 7.

STEP 7. Retest the system.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete.
Return to Step 1.
