Code No. U116A: Quick charger CHG-CAN Bus-off
Code No. U116B: Quick charger CHG-CAN timeout

caution
  • If there is any problem in the CAN bus lines, an incorrect diagnosis code may be stored. Prior to this diagnosis, diagnose the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C - CAN Bus Diagnostics Table ).
  • Whenever ECU is replaced, ensure that the CAN bus lines are normal.

TROUBLE JUDGEMENT

The PHEV-ECU stores the relevant diagnosis code when any of the malfunctions occurs in the CHG-CAN.

  1. Code No. U116A: Bus-off
  2. Code No. U116B: Timeout

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Malfunction of quick charger
  • Malfunction of CHG-CAN
  • The PHEV-ECU fails

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnostics

Use the M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting ). On completion, go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check whether the diagnosis code is stored again.

Recheck if the diagnosis code is stored.
(1)Erase the diagnosis code.
(2)Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
(3)Check if the diagnosis code is stored.

Q. Is the diagnosis code stored?

Go to Step 3.
The procedure is complete.

STEP 3. Check the signal line for open and short circuit (Quick charger and PHEV-ECU).

  • Check the wiring harness quick charger connector terminals No.9, 8 and PHEV-ECU (CNEL, CNEH terminals) connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Repair the connector or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Resistance measurement at the PHEV-ECU connector.

caution Always use a digital multimeter to check a resistance as an accurate value must be measured.
(1)Remove the PHEV-ECU, and measure at the component side.
(2)Resistance between CNEH, CNEL terminal and body earth
OK: 120 ± 20 Ω
caution Strictly observe the specified wiring harness repair procedure.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Quick charging connector check

Q. Is the check result normal?

Check the quick charger. Then go to Step 6.
Repair the connector.

STEP 6.

Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to ).
The procedure is complete.
