INSPECTION PROCEDURE 22: Energy regeneration ratio cannot be changed by using the paddle shift switch




COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


When the energy regeneration level (B0 to B5) does not change by operating the energy regeneration level selector, the paddle shift switch or the PHEV-ECU is suspected.

PROBABLE CAUSES



  • The energy regeneration level selector fails
  • Damaged harness or connector
  • Malfunction of PHEV-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. M.U.T.-III service data (PHEV-ECU).


Check that the following service data display contents are normal (Refer to ).
Service data
  • Item 94: Paddle switch (+)
Check condition
Normal condition
The paddle lever (+) is pulled towards you with the power supply mode of the electric motor switch turned on.
ON
The paddle lever (+) is NOT pulled towards you with the power supply mode of the electric motor switch turned on.
OFF

  • Item 95: Paddle switch (-)
Check condition
Normal condition
The paddle lever (-) is pulled towards you with the power supply mode of the electric motor switch turned on.
ON
The paddle lever (-) is NOT pulled towards you with the power supply mode of the electric motor switch turned on.
OFF

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Energy regeneration level selector check


note The service procedure for the energy regeneration level selector is the same as for the paddle shift assembly on the standard models.
Refer to GROUP 23A - Paddle Shift Switch Check .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Replace the paddle shift assembly (Refer to GROUP 37 - Steering Column Shaft Assembly ).

STEP 3. Check of short to earth, and open circuit in the signal line. (PHEV-ECU and the paddle shift assembly.)



  • Check the wiring harness between PHEV-ECU (PD+, PD- terminals) connector and the paddle shift assembly connector terminal No.3, 1.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Repair the connector or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Check of open circuit in the earth line. (paddle shift assembly and body earth).



  • Check the wiring harness between paddle shift assembly connector terminal No.2 and the earth connector terminal No.1.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Retest the system.


Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to ).
