INSPECTION PROCEDURE 2: Auxiliary battery discharged

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

When any of the symptoms occurs, the auxiliary battery is suspected.

  • The combination meter does not illuminate even if the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is turned on.
  • The keyless operation key does not work.
  • The interior lamp will be dimmed when power supply mode of the electric motor switch is turned from off to on.
note If no components respond, diagnose the OSS system. (Refer to GROUP 42B - Troubleshooting <OSS-ECU>, Trouble Symptom Chart )

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • The auxiliary battery is flat due to the reasons below:

  1. The power supply mode of the electric motor switch remains at ACC or ON.
  2. The OSS system fails
  • Malfunction of the combination meter
  • The OSS system fails

  • DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

    STEP 1. Auxiliary battery check

Refer to GROUP 54A - Battery Test .

    Q. Is the check result normal?

    Go to Step 2.

Charge the auxiliary battery (Refer to GROUP 54A <PHEV> - Charge ). Or, replace the auxiliary battery (Refer to GROUP 54A - Battery ).

    STEP 2. M.U.T.-III actuator test.

Execute the following actuator tests: (Refer to )
    Item 2. 12V DCDC shutdown
OK: When the actuator test is started, the DC-DC converter drive stops.

    Q. Is the check result normal?

    Go to Step 3.
Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to ).

    STEP 3. M.U.T.-III data list.

Check that the following data list display contents are normal (Refer to ).
Item 51. DCDC Output voltage (S terminal)
OK: 13.7 to 14.8 V [READY (ready to drive) indicator illuminates]

    Q. Is the check result normal?

    Go to Step 4.
Carry out the trouble symptom inspection of the on board charger/DC-DC converter.

    STEP 4. Retest the system.

    Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Carry out the trouble symptom inspection of the combination meter (Refer to GROUP 54A - Trouble symptom chart ).
