Code No. P1024: FEMCU oil temperature too high

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnosis

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Repair the CAN bus line.

STEP 2. Use M.U.T.-III to confirm a diagnosis code of other systems.

Check whether the PHEV-ECU stores a diagnosis code.

Q. Is diagnosis code stored?

Diagnose the system according to the stored diagnosis code.

Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check the power drive unit connector and the generator connector.

Visually check them for damage or water ingress.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Repair the connector.

STEP 4. Check the resistance in the oil temperature sensor.

(1)Disconnect the power drive unit and the generator connectors.
(2)Measure the resistance in the oil temperature sensor between the generator connector terminals.
Terminal symbol
Normal value
TH0 to TG0

    Approx. 400kΩ to 600kΩ at -20°C
    Approx. 140kΩ to 200kΩ at 0°C
    Approx. 55kΩ to 70kΩ at 20°C
    Approx. 23kΩ to 30kΩ at 40°C

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check the oil temperature sensor wire between the power drive unit connector and the generator connector for short to earth or open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Repair the harness.

STEP 6. M.U.T.-III data list

Drive the vehicle to check the service data below: (Refer to .)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Replace the generator. (Refer to .) Then go to Step 8.

STEP 7. Diagnosis code recheck

Check again if the diagnosis code is stored in the FEMCU.
(1)Erase the stored diagnosis code.
(2)Power supply mode of electric motor switch: OFF
(3)Power supply mode of electric motor switch: ON
(4)Drive the vehicle.
(5)Check if the diagnosis code is stored.

Q. Is diagnosis code stored?

Replace the Power Drive Unit. (Refer to .) Then go to Step 8.

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).

STEP 8.

Return to Step 1.

This diagnosis is complete.
