Code No. U0293: PHEV-ECU CAN Time-out




TROUBLE JUDGEMENT


Check Conditions
  • While the on board charger is allowed to be charged from the PHEV-ECU. <On board charger>
or

  • PHEV-ECU is being activated <DC-DC converter>
Judgement Criterion
  • The data cannot be received from the PHEV-ECU.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION



  • The charge is stopped.
  • The output of DC-DC converter continues.

PROBABLE CAUSES



  • The CAN bus is failed.
  • The PHEV-ECU is failed.
  • The on board charger/DC-DC converter is failed.

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnosis



  • Using M.U.T.-III, perform CAN bus line diagnosis.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Repair CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting - CAN Bus Diagnostics Table ).

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III other system diagnosis code


Check that the other ECU performing CAN communication with PHEV-ECU stores diagnosis code No. U0293 [Refer to GROUP 54C - CAN-related Diagnosis Code Table ].

Q. Is diagnosis code stored?

Replace the PHEV-ECU.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code.



  • Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code stored?

Replace the on board charger/DC-DC converter.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
