Inspection Procedure 4: One of Reversing Sensor (Corner Sensor and Back Sensor) does not Detect The Obstacle.

caution
  • Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input signal circuit is normal.
  • When the illuminated licence plate is installed, the sensors may not operate because of noise from the plate. (When the ultrasonic noise is received, the bass toned buzzer sound continuously. When the ultrasonic noise stops, the normal operation will be resumed immediately.)

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If any reversing sensor (corner sensor/back sensor) does not detect the obstacle, the wiring harness, connectors, each sensor or corner sensor-ECU may be defective. In addition, obstacle is not detected when the ultrasonic noise is received.

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
  • Malfunction of reversing sensor (corner sensor/back sensor)
  • Malfunction of corner sensor-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check the reversing sensor (corner sensor/back sensor) for interference.

Q. Are there anything that interferes with the communication (things that generate radio waves such as magnets and an air-cleaning device that has a power plug) near the reversing sensor (corner sensor/back sensor)?

Move away or remove things that interfere with the communication (things that generate radio waves such as magnets and a air-cleaning device that has a power plug) near the reversing sensor (corner sensor/back sensor).
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Confirm which reversing sensor (corner sensor/back sensor) does not detect the obstacle.

Q. Which reversing sensor (corner sensor/back sensor) does not detect the obstacle?

Corner sensor (rear: RH) : Go to Step 3.
Corner sensor (rear: LH) : Go to Step 6.
Back sensor (RH) : Go to Step 9.
Back sensor (LH) : Go to Step 12.

STEP 3. Connector check: D-16 corner sensor-ECU connector and E-110-1 corner sensor (rear: RH) connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 4. Check the wiring harness between E-110-1 corner sensor (rear: RH) connector (terminal No. 1, 2) and D-16 corner sensor-ECU connector (terminal No. 8, 10).

  • Check the communication lines for open circuit and short circuit.
note Before the wiring harness inspection, inspect the intermediate connectors D-222, E-119 and E-110, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 5. Verification after corner sensor replacement

After replacing the corner sensor (rear: RH), verify that the reversing sensor system is normally.
