Code No. P2148: Injector Common 1 (Cylinder No. 1 and No. 4) Circuit Battery Short

OPERATION

  • Refer to Code No. P0201: No. 1 Injector Circuit Malfunction
  • Refer to Code No. P0204: No. 4 Injector Circuit Malfunction

FUNCTION

  • The engine-ECU monitors voltage application to the injector during no injector energisation to detect errors in the No. 1 and No. 4 injector drive circuit.

TROUBLE JUDGEMENT

Check Condition
  • Ignition switch is in "ON" position.
Judgment Criterion
  • Short-circuit to the battery is detected in the injector drive circuit.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION

  • The engine is stopped (The fuel injection and pump pressure feed are stopped).
  • The throttle valve is opened (Electrical discontinuity).
  • The EGR control is stopped (fully closed).
  • The DPF regeneration is prohibited.
  • The AS&G control is prohibited.

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Short circuit in injector circuit or loose connector contact
  • Failed No. 1 injector
  • Failed No. 4 injector
  • Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

warning A high-tension voltage is flowing between the engine-ECU and the injectors while the engine is running. Handle them carefully to avoid receiving electric shocks from the voltage.

STEP 1. Connector check: B-101 and B-106 injector connector.

Q. Are the check results normal?

Go to Step 2 .
Repair or replace the connector.

STEP 2. Connector check: B-09 engine-ECU connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3 .
Repair or replace the connector.

STEP 3. Check harness between B-09 (terminal No. 2) engine-ECU connector and B-101 (terminal No. 2) No. 1 injector connector.

  • Check earthing line for short circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4 .
Repair the damaged harness wire.

STEP 4. Check harness between B-09 (terminal No. 27) engine-ECU connector and B-106 (terminal No. 2) No. 4 injector connector.

  • Check earthing line for short circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5 .
Repair the damaged harness wire.

STEP 5. Check harness between B-09 (terminal No. 1) engine-ECU connector and B-101 (terminal No. 1) No. 1 injector connector.

  • Check power supply line for short circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6 .
Repair the damaged harness wire.

STEP 6. Check harness between B-09 (terminal No. 25) engine-ECU connector and B-106 (terminal No. 1) No. 4 injector connector.

  • Check power supply line for short circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7 .
Repair the damaged harness wire.

STEP 7. Check Injector itself

  • Check No. 1 injector and No. 4 injector itself (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8 .
Replace the injector.

STEP 8. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code.

  • After erasing the diagnosis code through M.U.T.-III, start the engine and confirm whether the diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the engine-ECU.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
