Code No. P0833 Clutch Interlock Switch Circuit

OPERATION

  • The power voltage is supplied to the clutch interlock switch (terminal No. 1) from the ETACS-ECU (C-417 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No. 3).
  • The ON/OFF signal is inputted to the AS&G-ECU (terminal No. 29) from the clutch interlock switch (terminal No. 2).

FUNCTION

  • The AS&G-ECU detects the state of the depressed clutch pedal by using the signal of the clutch interlock switch.
  • In response to the signal, the AS&G-ECU controls the AS&G system.

TROUBLE JUDGMENT

Check Condition
  • Ignition switch is "ON" position.
Judgement Criterion
  • Although the driving is more than 30 km/h during the previous driving, the ON/OFF signal of the clutch interlock switch is not changed even once.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION

  • In the normal operation, the auto stop is prohibited.

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Open/short circuit or harness damage in clutch interlock switch circuit or loose connector contact
  • Failed clutch interlock switch
  • Failed installation of clutch interlock switch
  • Failed clutch pedal
  • Failed AS&G-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III data list

  • Refer to Data List Reference Table .

  1. item 7: Clutch interlock switch (bottom)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the installation state of the clutch interlock switch and check the clutch pedal.

  • Check the installation state of the clutch interlock switch.
  • Check whether the installation portion of the clutch interlock switch of the clutch pedal is not damaged.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Repair or replace.

STEP 3. Connector check: C-230 clutch interlock switch connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Repair or replace the connector.

STEP 4. Check the clutch interlock switch itself.

  • Check the clutch interlock switch itself (Refer to GROUP 21A - Clutch Pedal - Inspection ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Replace the clutch interlock switch.

STEP 5. Perform voltage measurement at C-230 clutch interlock switch connector.

  • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
  • Voltage between terminal No. 1 and earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.
Go to Step 6.

STEP 6. Connector check: C-417 ETACS-ECU connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Check intermediate connectors C-231, C-128 and repair if necessary. If intermediate connectors are normal, check and repair harness between C-417 (terminal No. 3) ETACS-ECU connector and C-230 (terminal No. 1) clutch interlock switch connector.

    • Check power supply line for open/short circuit.
Repair or replace the connector.

Go to Step 8.
Repair or replace the connector.

STEP 8. Check harness between C-417 (terminal No. 3) ETACS-ECU connector and C-230 (terminal No. 1) clutch interlock switch connector.

note Before checking harness, check intermediate connectors C-231, C-128 and repair if necessary.

  • Check power supply line for damage.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 9.
Repair the damaged harness wire.

STEP 9. Connector check: C-11 AS&G-ECU connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.
Repair or replace the connector.

STEP 10. Check harness between C-230 (terminal No. 2) clutch interlock switch connector and C-11 (terminal No. 29) AS&G-ECU connector.

  • Check output line for open/short circuit and damage.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 11.
Repair the damaged harness wire.

STEP 11. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

  • Reconfirmation of the diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the AS&G-ECU.
