Inspection Procedure 2: One of the tail lamps does not illuminate.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Malfunction of rear combination lamp unit
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Connector check: D-13 (RH) and D-19 (LH) rear combination lamp connectors

Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 2. Resistance measurement at the D-13 (RH) and D-19 (LH) rear combination lamp connectors

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Measure the resistance between the connector of lamp which does not illuminate and the body earth.

  • Measure the resistance between the D-13 (RH) and D-19 (LH) rear combination lamp connector terminal No. 8 and the body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 3. Wiring harness check between the D-13 (RH) and D-19 (LH) rear combination lamp connector terminal No. 8 and the body earth.

  • Check the earth wires for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 4. Connector check: C-413 ETACS-ECU connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 5. Wiring harness check between the D-13 (RH) or D-19 (LH) rear combination lamp connector terminal No. 5 and the C-413 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No. 13 (RH) or 10 (LH)

  • Check the power supply lines for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 6. Retest the system
