caution Before replacing the multivision display, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit, and the communication circuit are normal. (Check that the voltage is 10 V or more.)

PROBABLE CAUSES



  • Malfunction of DC/DC converter
  • Malfunction of power supply circuit
  • Malfunction of multivision display

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. M.U.T.-III other system data list


Check the input signal of ACC relay.

  • Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Refer to ETACS - Input Signal Procedure 1 "The ignition switch (ACC) signal is not sent to the ETACS-ECU" .

STEP 2. Connector check: C-12 DC/DC converter connector, C-415 ETACS-ECU connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 3. Check the DC/DC converter.


Check the continuity of the DC/DC converter (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Replace the DC/DC converter.

STEP 4. Voltage measurement at C-12 DC/DC converter connector.


(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness-side connector.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
(3)Voltage between C-12 DC/DC converter connector terminal No.6 and the body earth
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check the wiring harness between C-12 DC/DC converter connector terminal No.6 and C-415 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.9



  • Check the power supply lines (battery power supply) for open circuit and short circuit.
note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check joint connector C-231 and intermediate connector C-127, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 6. Voltage measurement at C-12 DC/DC converter connector.


(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness-side connector.
(2)Voltage between C-12 DC/DC connector terminal No.9 and the body earth
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.
Go to Step 7.

STEP 7. Check the wiring harness between C-12 DC/DC converter connector terminal No.9 and fusible link (36) <Petrol> or (38) <Diesel>



  • Check the power supply lines (battery power supply) for open circuit and short circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 8. Connector check: C-101, C-104, C-110 multivision display connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 9.
Repair or replace the damaged component(s).

STEP 9. Check the wiring harness between the DC/DC converter connector terminal and the multivision display connector terminal.


Check the power supply line for open circuit and short circuit.

  • Check the wire harness between C-12 DC/DC converter connector terminal No.7 and C-104 multivision display connector terminal No.30.
  • Check the wire harness between C-12 DC/DC converter connector terminal No.7 and C-101 multivision display connector terminal No.64.
  • Check the wire harness between C-12 DC/DC converter connector terminal No.8 and C-104 multivision display connector terminal No.21.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 10. Resistance measurement at C-101, C-104, C-110 multivision display connector.


(1)Disconnect C-101 multivision display connector, and measure the resistance available at the wiring harness side of the connector.
(2)Check the continuity between terminal 68 and body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
(3)Disconnect C-104 multivision display connector, and measure the resistance available at the wiring harness side of the connector.
(4)Check the continuity between terminal 40 and body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
(5)Disconnect C-110 multivision display connector, and measure the resistance available at the wiring harness side of the connector.
(6)Check the continuity between terminal 44 and body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 13.
Go to Step 11.

STEP 11. Connector check: C-01 earth joint connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 12.
Repair or replace the damaged component(s).

STEP 12. Check the wiring harness between C-101 multivision display connector terminal No.68 or C-104 multivision display connector terminal No.40 or C-110 multivision display connector terminal No.44 and C-01 earth joint connector terminal No.11.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check joint connector C-108, and repair if necessary.

  • Check the earth wires for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 13. Retest the system


Check if the multivision display power is turned ON.

Replace the multivision display.
