Inspection Procedure 1: Power supply circuit check
Inspection Procedure 2: When the reset witch is operated with the electric motor switch at OFF position, the odo/trip meter is not displayed.
Inspection Procedure 3: The combination meter does not work at all when the electric motor switch is at ON position.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
  • Malfunction of combination meter

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Connector check: B-101 combination meter connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 2. Voltage measurement at the B-101 combination meter connector

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the electric motor switch to the LOCK (OFF) position.
(3)Measure the voltage between the B-101 combination meter connector terminal No. 1 and the body earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between the fusible link No. (25) and the B-101 combination meter connector terminal No. 1.

note Before the wiring harness check, check the junction block connectors B-305 and B-310, and repair them if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 4. Voltage measurement at the B-101 combination meter connector

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the electric motor switch to the ON position.
(3)Measure the voltage between the B-101 combination meter connector terminal No. 2 and the body earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check the wiring harness between the electric motor switch (ON) and the B-101 combination meter connector terminal No. 2.

note Before the wiring harness check, check the junction block connectors B-302 and B-305, and repair them if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 6. Voltage measurement at the B-101 combination meter connector

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the lighting switch to the TAIL position.
(3)Measure the voltage between the B-101 combination meter connector terminal No. 3 and the body earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.
Go to Step 7.

STEP 7. Check the wiring harness between B-305 junction block connector (terminal 1) and B-101 junction block connector (terminal 3).

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 8. Resistance measurement at the B-101 combination meter connector

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Measure the resistance between the B-101 combination meter connector terminal No. 10 and the body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
(3)Measure the resistance between the B-101 combination meter connector terminal No. 11 and the body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.
Go to Step 9.

STEP 9. Check the wiring harness between B-101 combination meter connector (terminals 10 and 11) and body earth.

Check the earth wires for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 10. Retest the system.

Q. Is the check result satisfactory?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction )
Replace the combination meter.
