Code No. C2016: Brake electric vacuum pump control relay 1 (or 2) ON seizure (VP)

BRAKE VACUUM GENERATION SYSTEM CIRCUIT

OPERATION

DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS

  • With the brake electric vacuum pump control relays 1, 2 set to off, if the high voltage level of the brake electric vacuum pump continues, the diagnosis code No. C2016 will be set.

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Malfunction of the brake electric vacuum pump control relay 1 or 2
  • Malfunction of the brake electric vacuum pump relay box
  • Damaged wiring harness or connector(s)
  • Malfunction of the EV-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Voltage measurement at A-113X brake electric vacuum pump control relay 1 (brake electric vacuum pump relay box) connector, A-114X brake electric vacuum pump control relay 2 (brake electric vacuum pump relay box) connector

(1)Remove the brake electric vacuum pump control relays 1 and 2, and measure the voltage at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the electric motor switch to the ON position.
(3)Measure the voltage between the connector terminal No. 3, 5 of the A-113X brake electric vacuum pump control relay 1 (brake electric vacuum pump relay box) and the A-114X brake electric vacuum pump control relay 2 (brake electric vacuum pump relay box) and the body earth.
OK: Battery voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Connector check: A-113X brake electric vacuum pump control relay 1 (brake electric vacuum pump relay box) connector, A-114X brake electric vacuum pump control relay 2 (brake electric vacuum pump relay box) connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Correct and replace the brake electric vacuum pump relay box.

STEP 3. Brake electric vacuum pump control relays 1 and 2 check

Check the brake electric vacuum pump control relays 1 and 2. (Refer to GROUP 35A - On-vehicle Service - Relay Check .)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Replace the brake electric vacuum pump control relays 1 and 2.

STEP 4. Connector check: C-106 EV-ECU connector, B-28 intermediate connnector, A-104 brake electric vacuum pump relay box connecter

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair the damaged connector. Or, correct and replace the brake electric vacuum pump relay box.

STEP 5. Check the wiring harness between A-104 brake electric vacuum pump relay box connector terminal No. 5, 6, 8 and C-106 EV-ECU connector terminal No. 20, 21, 27.

Check the signal lines for short to power supply. Or, check the fuse in the brake electric vacuum pump relay box.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Repair the wiring harness. Or, correct and replace the brake electric vacuum pump relay box.

STEP 6. Diagnosis code recheck

Check again if the diagnosis code is set to the EV-ECU.
(1)Erase the stored diagnosis code.
(2)Set the electric motor switch from the LOCK (OFF) position to the ON position.
(3)Check if the diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the EV-ECU. (Refer to .) Then go to Step 7.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction .)

STEP 7.

Return to Step 1.
The diagnosis is complete.
