COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM



  • If the ETACS-ECU receives the lighting switch fail signal, the ETACS-ECU stores the diagnosis code No. B1763.
  • If the ETACS-ECU receives the wiper switch fail signal, the ETACS-ECU stores the diagnosis code No. B1764.

PROBABLE CAUSES



  • Malfunction of the column switch
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.



(1)Erase the diagnosis code.
(2)Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(3)On completion, check that the diagnosis code No. B1763 or No. B1764 is reset.

STEP 2. Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.



(1)Replace the windshield wiper and washer switch.
(2)Erase the diagnosis code.
(3)Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(4)On completion, check that the diagnosis code No. B1764 is reset.

STEP 3. Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.



(1)Replace the lighting switch.
(2)Erase the diagnosis code.
