ABS WARNING LAMP

• For the duration of approximately 3 seconds after the ignition key is turned to ON (Initial check for the ABS warning lamp).
  
• When malfunction occurs in ABS (Stays ON until the ignition switch is turned to OFF).
  
• When the supply voltage for ABS-ECU is abnormally reduced (Goes OFF when the normal supply voltage is resumed).
  

HYDRAULIC UNIT

• The hydraulic unit is supported to the front right side of the engine compartment via a bracket. This unit is comprised of a pump motor, solenoid valves IN and OUT (two for each wheel, eight in total), and reservoir.
  
• The hydraulic circuit in the ABS hydraulic unit is separated into two systems, and corresponds to the normal X-type piping.
  
• When ABS operates, the signal sent from ABS-ECU activates or deactivates the solenoid valves IN and OUT. Depending on the combination of the signal ON/OFF status, ABS decreases, holds, or increases the pressure of the solenoid valves and controls the fluid pressure in the wheel cylinders.
