WINDSHIELD WIPER AND WASHER



CONSTRUCTION DIAGRAM





  • 2-speed (low/high) windshield wiper has been adopted.
  • The intermittent wiper features a vehicle speed sensitive intermittent time variable wiper* system.
  • The wiper link assembly with frame increases rigidity of the link assembly, achieves smoother wiper operation, and reduces unwiped area and wiper operation noise.
  • The mist wiper is turned ON by operating the mist switch in the opposite direction of the wiper switch, achieving clearer operation. It features a mist wiper function that wipes away rain when the mist switch is ON and operates until stopped. When the mist switch is temporarily turned ON, the wiper wipes once at low speed.
  • The 2-nozzle 4-jet type windshield washer reduces the variation of the splashing points on the windshield while driving at high speed. The windshield washer secures higher driver’s visibility for improved safety.
  • Check valve integrated washer nozzle is employed. It prevents the leakage from the nozzle in a sudden acceleration or hard turn, and improve the washer injection response when the washer switch is ON.
  • The washer-linked wiper function has been introduced. The washer fluid can be injected without operating the wiper. When the ignition switch is turned ON or ACC while the washer switch ON, the washer motor operates but the wiper does not.
note *: Using a customization feature, vehicle speed sensitive intermittent time variable wiper function can be enabled or disabled optionally. Refer to Customization Function .

WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER



INTERMITTENT CONTROL (VEHICLE SPEED SENSING INTERMITTENT TIME ADJUSTABLE TYPE) <THE INITIAL SETTING: WITH FUNCTION>





  1. ETACS-ECU calculates the intermittent time T1 based on the variable intermittent wiper volume switch signal sent from the column switch, and on the vehicle speed signal sent from the engine-ECU through CAN communication.
    note When the calculated result of intermittent time is less than 2 seconds, the intermittent operation changes to the continuous operation (low speed).
  2. When ETACS-ECU receives the windshield intermittent wiper switch ON signal from the column switch while the ignition switch is in the ACC or ON position, it turns the windshield wiper relay ON to operate the windshield wiper at low speed.
  3. When the windshield wiper comes to the stop position, the windshield wiper auto stop signal turns OFF. And the windshield wiper stops operating.
  4. When the intermittent time T1 has elapsed after the windshield wiper relay was turned OFF, ETACS-ECU turns ON the windshield wiper relay again and repeats the procedure above.
note Using a customisation function, the vehicle speed-sensing wiper function can be enabled or disabled (Refer to ).

MIST WIPER CONTROL



When the windshield mist wiper switch of the column switch is turned ON with the ignition switch in the ACC or ON position, ETACS-ECU turns ON the windshield wiper drive signal. At the same time, the wiper speed switch relay turns to ON (HI). And the windshield wiper operates at the high speed.
