Inspection Procedure 11: The rear fog lamp indicator does not illuminate.









COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM




PROBABLE CAUSES



  • Malfunction of the combination meter
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check of rear fog lamp


Check that the rear fog lamp illuminates normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Repair the rear fog lamp first. Refer to trouble symptom chart .

STEP 2. Connector check: C-111 and C-113 combination meter connector




Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 3. Resistance measurement at the C-111 and C-113 combination meter connector.




(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.

(2)Resistance between C-111 combination meter connector terminal No.57 and body earth
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

(3)Check the resistance between the C-113 combination meter connector terminal No.13 and body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check the wiring harness from C-111 combination meter connector terminal No.57 or C-113 combination meter connector terminal No.13 to body earth.





  • Check the earth wires for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 5. Connector check: C-215 rear fog lamp relay connector and C-113 combination meter






Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 6. Check the wiring harness from C-113 combination meter connector terminal No.10 to C-215 rear fog lamp relay connector terminal No.2.






note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check junction block connector C-221 and intermediate connector C-30, and repair if necessary. <LHD>
note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check junction block connector C-204, joint connectors C-137 and C-138, and repair if necessary. <RHD>

  • Check the output lines for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 7. Retest the system.


Check that the rear fog lamp indicator illuminates normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the combination meter.
