Code No. P0500: Vehicle Speed Signal System




FUNCTION



  • The engine-ECU receives vehicle speed signal from ASC-ECU via the CAN communication.

TROUBLE JUDGMENT


Check Conditions
  • CAN communication is normal
  • Battery positive voltage is more than 10 V and is less than 16.5 V.
Judgement Criterion
  • The vehicle speed signal received for 2 seconds via CAN is abnormal.
FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
  • None.

PROBABLE CAUSES



  • Failed wheel speed sensor of ASC.
  • Failed ASC-ECU
  • Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code



  • Confirm the diagnosis code is set from ASC-ECU.

Q. Is diagnosis code set?

Perform troubleshooting of the active stability control (ASC) system. (Refer to GROUP 35C - Troubleshooting - Diagnosis Code Chart ).
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the speedometer.


Q. Is the indication of speedometer normal?

Go to Step 3.
Replace the ASC-ECU.

STEP 3. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code



  • Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.

Q. Is diagnosis code set?

Replace the engine-ECU.
