Code No. P1237: Trustful Check Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor

FUNCTION

  • Compare the output value of the accelerator pedal position sensor (main) with that of the accelerator pedal position sensor (sub).

TROUBLE JUDGMENT

Check Condition
  • Ignition switch is "ON" position.
Judgement Criteria
  • The difference between the output value of the accelerator pedal position sensor (main) and twice that of the accelerator pedal position sensor (sub) is more than 0.4 V.
  • When output voltage of the accelerator pedal position sensor (main) is constant, the variation in output voltage of the accelerator pedal position sensor (sub) is more than 0.06 V.
FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
  • Throttle opening degree position is in default position.

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Failed accelerator pedal position sensor
  • Harness damage in accelerator pedal position sensor circuit or loose connector contact
  • Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Q. Is any other diagnosis code than P1237 set?

Inspection chart for diagnosis code (Refer to ).
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III data list

  • Refer to Data List Reference Table .

  1. Item 11: Accelerator pedal position sensor (main)
  2. Item 12: Accelerator pedal position sensor (sub)

Q. Are the check results normal?

Replace the engine-ECU.
Perform the diagnosis code classified check procedure for the sensor that has shown an abnormal data value (Refer to Inspection Chart for Diagnosis Code ).
