INSPECTION PROCEDURE 2: Driver’s power window does not work by means of the power window main switch.


caution Before replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.












COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM



PROBABLE CAUSES



  • Malfunction of the power window main switch
  • Malfunction of the front power window motor (LH) <LHD>
  • Malfunction of the front power window motor (RH) <RHD>
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code



Q. Is the diagnosis code set?





STEP 2. Check the power window main switch.



Q. Is the check result normal?





STEP 3. Connector check: E-14 power window main switch connector


Q. Is the check result normal?





STEP 4. Resistance measurement at E-14 power window main switch connector.


(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Measure the resistance between the E-14 power window main switch connector terminal No. 2 and the body earth.
OK: Continuity (less than 2 Ω)

Q. Is the check result normal?





STEP 5. Check of the wiring harness between the E-14 power window main switch connector terminal No. 2 and the body earth.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector C-125 <LHD>, C-111 <RHD>, and repair if necessary.

  • Check the earth wires for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?





STEP 6. Voltage measurement at E-14 power window main switch connector.


(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(3)Measure the voltage between the E-14 power window main switch connector terminal No. 6 and the body earth.
OK: Battery voltage

STEP 7. Connector check: C-315 ETACS-ECU connector


Q. Is the check result normal?





STEP 8. Check of the wiring harness between the E-14 power window main switch connector terminal No. 6 and the C-315 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No. 8.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check the C-38 joint connector (2) <LHD>, C-125 <LHD>, C-111 <RHD> intermediate connector, and repair if necessary.

  • Check the power supply line for open circuit.

STEP 9. Connector check: E-13 front power window motor (LH) <LHD> connector, E-09 front power window motor (RH) <RHD> connector

STEP 10. Check of the wiring harness between the E-14 power window main switch connector terminal No. 1, 7 and the E-13 front power window motor (LH) connector terminal No. 4, 1 <LHD> or the E-09 front power window motor (RH) connector terminal No. 4, 1 <RHD>



  • Check the input/output lines for open circuit and short circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?





STEP 11. Retest the system.
