Code No.B1BA5 SRS-ECU squib count mismatch

If the diagnosis code B1BA5 is set to SRS-ECU, be sure to diagnose the CAN bus line.

OPERATION

SRS-ECU monitors the resistance value of each squib circuit on the vehicle. If any of the resistance values is outside the normal range, SRS-ECU sets the diagnosis code.

TROUBLE JUDGEMENT

If an SRS-ECU different from the unit compatible to vehicle is accidentally installed, this code will be set. (If SRS-ECU for the vehicles with side-airbag is installed to the vehicles without side-airbag. However, the code is not set in the reverse case.)
If an open circuit occurs to the squib circuit, this code will be set.

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnostics.

Use M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 2.

	Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting ).

STEP 2. Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.

(1)Connect the negative battery terminal.

(2)After erasing the diagnosis code memory, check the diagnosis code again.

(3)Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Q. Is the diagnosis code No. B1BA5 set?

	Go to Step 3 (No. B1BA5 only).

	Perform the troubleshooting to the corresponding code (No.B1BA5 and other codes).

	Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.

Q. Is the diagnosis code No. B1BA5 set?

	Replace SRS-ECU (Refer to ).

	Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
