Inspection Procedure 16: One of the Bending Lamps does not Illuminate.

caution Before replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Malfunction of the bending lamp bulbs
  • Malfunction of the AFS-ECU
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Connector check: A-35 (LH), A-53 (RH) headlamp assembly connector and A-28X headlamp relay (LO) connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 2. Bulb check

Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 3. Voltage measurement at the A-35 (LH) or A-53 (RH) headlamp assembly connector

(1)Remove the headlamp assembly (LH) or (RH), and measure at the relay box side.
(2)Illuminate the headlamps.
(3)Measure the voltage between A-35 headlamp assembly (LH) connector terminal No. 7 and the body earth.
OK: System voltage
(4)Measure the voltage between A-53 headlamp assembly (RH) connector terminal No. 7 and the body earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 4. Wiring harnesses check between A-35 (LH) or A-53 (RH) headlamp assembly connector terminal No. 7 and the A-28X headlamp relay (LO) connector terminal No. 3

  • Check the power supply line for open circuit and short circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 5. Connector check: C-12 AFS-ECU connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 6. Wiring harnesses check between A-35 (LH) or A-53 (RH) headlamp assembly connector terminal No. 8 and the C-12 AFS-ECU connector terminal No. 4 (LH) or 3 (RH)

Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 7. Retest the system
