Code No. P1608: Battery Current Sensor System
FUNCTION
- The battery current sensor supplies battery current to the engine-ECU via
the Local Interconnect Network (LIN).
- In response to the signal, the engine-ECU controls charging and discharging.
TROUBLE JUDGMENT
Check Condition
- 2 seconds later after the ignition switch has been in ON position or just after
the engine has started up.
- Battery positive voltage is more than 10 V and is less than 16.5 V.
- The battery current that the battery current sensor senses remains abnormal for
2 seconds or more.
FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
- Prohibits alternator output suppression control against current consumers. (operates
as a normal alternator.)
PROBABLE CAUSES
- Failed battery current sensor
- Failed engine-ECU
