DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS




PROBABLE CAUSES



  • Malfunction of the rear differential lock detection switch
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
  • Malfunction of the transfer-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code


Q. Are diagnosis code No.C1465, C1466, C1468 set?

Refer to diagnosis code No.C1465, C1466, C1468: Rear Differential Lock Air Pump Assembly System .
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III other system diagnosis code


Check whether the ASTC system diagnosis codes are set or not.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

YES : Diagnose the ASTC system (Refer to GROUP 35C - Troubleshooting ).
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check the rear differential lock system air leakage


Refer to GROUP 27 - On-vehicle Service .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Repair or replace the hose (Refer to GROUP 27 - Rear Differential Lock ).

STEP 4. Check the rear differential lock air pump


Refer to GROUP 27 - Rear Differential Lock .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Replace the rear differential lock air pump (Refer to GROUP 27 - Rear Differential Lock ).

STEP 5. Check the rear differential lock detection switch.


Refer to GROUP 27 - On-vehicle Service .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Go to Step 15.

STEP 6. Measure the voltage at rear differential lock detection switch connector E-116-1 <M/T> or E-116 <A/T>.


(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage between terminal No.1 and earth at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 12.
Go to Step 7.

STEP 7. Measure the voltage at transfer-ECU connector D-123.


(1)Disconnect rear differential lock switch connector E-116.
(2)Measure the voltage between transfer-ECU connector D-123 terminal No.50 and earth at the ECU side.
(3)Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.
Go to Step 8.

STEP 8. Connector check: D-34 J/C (4), E-116 intermediate connector <M/T>, E-116-1 rear differential lock detection switch connector <M/T>, E-116 rear differential lock detection switch connector <A/T>, D-219, D-228, E-120 intermediate connector, D-123 transfer-ECU connector.


Check for the contact with terminals.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 9.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 9. Check the harness between rear differential lock detection switch connector E-116-1 terminal No.1 <M/T> or check the harness between rear differential lock detection switch connector E-116 terminal No.1 and transfer-ECU connector D-123 terminal No.50 <A/T>.


Check the output line for short circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 16.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 10. Connector check: D-34 J/C (4), E-116 intermediate connector <M/T>, E-116-1 rear differential lock detection switch connector <M/T>, E-116 rear differential lock detection switch connector <A/T>, D-219, D-228, E-120 intermediate connector, D-123 transfer-ECU connector.


Check for the contact with terminals.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 11.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 11. Check the harness between rear differential lock detection switch connector E-116-1 terminal No.1 <M/T> or check the harness between rear differential lock detection switch connector E-116 terminal No.1 and transfer-ECU connector D-123 terminal No.50 <A/T>.


Check the output line for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 16.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 12. Measure the resistance at rear differential lock detection switch connector E-116-1 <M/T> or E-116 <A/T>.


Disconnect the connector, and measure the resistance between terminal No.2 and earth at the wiring harness side.
OK: Continuity (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 16.
Go to Step 13.

STEP 13. Connector check: E-116-1 rear differential lock detection switch connector <M/T>, E-116 intermediate connector <M/T>, E-116 rear differential lock detection switch connector <A/T>, E-120 intermediate connector.


Check for the contact with terminals.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 14.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 14. Check the harness between rear differential lock detection switch connector E-116-1 terminal No.2 and earth <M/T> or check the harness between rear differential lock detection switch connector E-116 terminal No.2 and earth<A/T>.


Check the earth line for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 16.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 15. Check the rear differential lock detection switch.


Refer to GROUP 27 - Rear Differential Lock .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Repair or replace the differential carrier assembly (Refer to GROUP 27 - Differential Carrier Assembly Disassembly , Reassembly ) .
Replace the rear differential lock detection switch (Refer to GROUP 27 - Rear Differential Lock ).

STEP 16. M.U.T.-III data list.


Item 73: Rear differential lock detection switch (Refer to data list reference table ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the transfer-ECU.
