Code No.P0958: Shift switch assembly system (Malfunction of select switch)

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of shift switch assembly
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
  • Malfunction of the A/T-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III data list
Item 27: Select switch
Check the above data list (Refer to data list reference table ).

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 8.
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Connector check: D-119 shift switch assembly connector
Check for the contact with terminals.

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 3. Check the shift switch assembly.
Refer to .

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Replace the selector lever assembly.

STEP 4. Connector check: D-139 A/T-ECU connector
Check for the contact with terminals.

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 5. Measure the voltage at A/T-ECU connector D-139
(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage between terminal 45 and earth at the harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(3)Selector lever position: Sport mode.
OK: System voltage
(4)Selector lever position: Other than above.
OK: 1 V or less

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 8.
Go to Step 6.

STEP 6. Connectors check: D-225 intermediate connector.
Check for the contact with terminals.

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 7. Check the harness between shift switch assembly connector D-119 terminal No.3 and A/T-ECU connector D-139 terminal No.45.
Check the output line for short circuit (short to power supply).

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 8.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 8. Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.
Check again if the diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is diagnosis code No.P0958 set?
Replace the A/T-ECU.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
