Inspection Procedure 1: The Reversing Sensor System does not Operate.

caution
  • Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input signal circuit is normal.
  • When the illuminated licence plate is installed, the sensors may not operate because of noise from the plate. (When the ultrasonic noise is received, the bass toned buzzer sound continuously. When the ultrasonic noise stops, the normal operation will be resumed immediately.)

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the reversing sensor OFF indicator illuminate when the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position, the power supply system is normal. The wiring harness, connectors, corner sensor-ECU may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
  • Malfunction of corner sensor-ECU
  • Malfunction of ignition switch (IG2)

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Connector check: D-16 Corner sensor-ECU connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 2. Voltage measurement at D-16 corner sensor-ECU connector in order to power supply circuit to corner sensor-ECU (IG2 power supply)

(1)Disconnect corner sensor-ECU connector D-16, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to "ON" position.
(3)Measure the voltage between terminal 11 and earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between D-16 corner sensor-ECU connector (terminal No. 11) and ignition switch (IG2).

  • Check the power supply line for open circuit and short circuit.
note Before the wiring harness inspection, inspect junction block connector D-403 and D-405,and joint connector D-34, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Retest the system.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 4. Resistance measurement at corner sensor-ECU connector D-16 in order to the earth circuit to the corner sensor-ECU.

(1)Disconnect corner sensor-ECU connector D-16, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Measure the resistance between terminal 20 and earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check the wiring harness between D-16 corner sensor-ECU connector (terminal No. 20) and earth.

  • Check the earth wires for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Retest the system.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 6. Verification after corner sensor-ECU replacement

After replacing the corner sensor-ECU, inspect the reversing sensor system for normal operation.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete.
Replace the ignition switch.
