Inspection Procedure 4: After the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position, the SRS warning lamp does not go Off after approximately seven seconds.




OPERATION



  • The SRS warning lamp illuminates when the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position and goes out after approximately 7 seconds if there is not a malfunction in the SRS system.
  • As a cause, the failure of CAN bus line, combination meter, or SRS-ECU is suspected.

PROBABLE CAUSES



  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors
  • Combination meter malfunction
  • Malfunction of SRS-ECU

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE


STEP 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnostics.


Use M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Repair the CAN bus lines (refer to Group 54D, Troubleshooting ).

STEP 2. Recheck of the SRS warning lamp


(1)Connect the negative battery terminal.
(2)Ignition switch: ON

Q. Does the lamp stay ON?

Go to Step 3.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

STEP 3. M.U.T.-III actuator test


Use M.U.T.-III to perform the combination meter actuator tests.
Item No. 07:SRS indicator

Q. Does the SRS warning lamp turn on and off normally?

Go to Step 4.
Replace the combination meter (Refer to GROUP 54A, combination meter ).

STEP 4. Recheck of the SRS warning lamp


(1)Connect the negative battery terminal.
(2)Ignition switch: ON

Q. Does the lamp stay ON?

Check whether the diagnosis code is set. If the diagnosis code is set, troubleshoot the code. If not, replace SRS-ECU (Refer to ).
