Inspection Procedure 3: The reversing sensor OFF indicator lamp does not illuminate.

caution
  • Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input signal circuit is normal.
  • When the illuminated licence plate is installed, the sensors may not operate because of noise from the plate. (When the ultrasonic noise is received, the bass toned buzzer sound continuously. When the ultrasonic noise stops, the normal operation will be resumed immediately.)

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If only the reversing sensor OFF indicator lamp does not illuminate, the wiring harness, connectors, corner sensor-ECU, or combination meter may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
  • Malfunction of corner sensor-ECU
  • Malfunction of the combination meter

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Inspect the reversing sensor OFF indicator lamp with ignition switch turned to "ON" position.

Verify that the reversing sensor OFF indicator lamp will illuminate for 1 second when the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Retest the system.
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Connector check: D-16 corner sensor-ECU connector and D-04 combination meter.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between D-04 combination meter connector (terminal No. 8) and D-16 corner sensor-ECU connector (terminal No. 11).

  • Check the communication line for open circuit and short circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 4. Connector check: D-02 combination meter connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 5. Voltage measurement at D-02 combination meter connector in order to power supply circuit to combination meter (IG1 power supply)

(1)Disconnect D-02 combination meter connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to "ON" position.
(3)Measure the voltage between terminal 42 and earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.
Go to Step 6.

STEP 6. Check the wiring harness between D-02 combination meter connector (terminal No. 42) and ignition switch (IG1).

  • Check the power supply line for open circuit and short circuit.
note Before the wiring harness inspection, inspect junction block connector D-405 and D-403, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to step 7.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 7. Verification after corner sensor-ECU replacement

After replacing the corner sensor-ECU, verify that the reversing sensor OFF indicator lamp illuminates normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete.
Replace the combination meter.
