caution Before replacing the USB box, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

PROBABLE CAUSES



  • The multivision display may be defective.
  • The USB box may be defective.
  • The USB adapter may be defective.
  • The USB cable may be defective.
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the multivision display operation.


Check if the multivision display work normally and the sound is output.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Troubleshoot the MMCS. (Refer to .)

STEP 2. Check the multivision display operation.


Display the A/V Mode screen, and check that the "USB/iPod" item is displayed.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Connector check: D-142 USB box connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to step 4.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 4. Voltage measurement at D-142 USB box connector.


(1)Disconnect D-142 USB box connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Measure the voltage between terminal No.1 and body earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check the wiring harness between D-142 USB box connector terminal No.1 and fusible link (1).



  • Check the power supply line for open circuit and short circuit.
note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check D-241, D-141 intermediate connectors, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 6. Resistance measurement at D-142 USB box connector.


(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Check the continuity between terminal 17 and earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.
Go to Step 7.

STEP 7. Check the wiring harness between D-142 USB box connector terminal No.17 and body earth.



  • Check the body earth wires for open circuit.
note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check D-141 intermediate connector, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 8. Connector check: D-258 multivision display connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to step 9.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 9. Check the harness wire between D-258 multivision display connector terminal No.23, 24, 28, 29, 38 and D-142 USB box connector terminal No.22, 8, 15, 2, 16.



  • Check the signal line for open circuit and short circuit.
note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector D-141, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 10. Check the USB adapter.


Check that the continuity exists between the front side terminals of USB adapter and rear side terminals of USB adapter.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to step 11.
Replace the USB adapter.

STEP 11. Check the USB cable.


Check that the USB cable is connected to the USB adapter or USB box normally. Or check the USB cable for damage such as bend.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to step 12.
Replace or repair the USB cable.

STEP 12. Replace the USB box temporarily, and check the trouble symptom.


Replace the USB box temporarily, and check that the sound is output from the speaker.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the USB box.
Replace the multivision display.
