caution Before replacing the radio and CD player, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

PROBABLE CAUSES



  • Malfunctions of radio and CD player
  • Malfunctions of speaker or tweeter
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Checking with audio speaker test


Perform the audio speaker test, and check which speaker or tweeter does not output the sound. Refer to .

Q. Is the check result normal?

YES : The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
NO (No speakers and tweeters sound.) : Go to Step 2.
NO (No sound is heard from one of the speakers or tweeters.) : Go to Step 6.

STEP 2. Connector check: F-11 <front-LH>, F-08 <front-RH>, F-23 <rear-LH> or F-20 <rear-RH> door speaker connector, F-02 <LH>, F-03 <RH> tweeter connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 3. Check the speaker or tweeter.


(1)Remove the speaker or tweeter. Refer to .
(2)Check that the speaker or tweeter outputs the noise when the voltage of 5 V is applied to the speaker or tweeter connector terminal.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Replace the speaker or tweeter.

STEP 4. Connector check: C-103 radio and CD player connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 5. Check the wire harness between the speaker or tweeter connector terminal and the radio and CD player connector terminal.


Check the communication lines for open circuit and short circuit.

  • <Front door speaker (LH)> Check the wire harness between F-11 front door speaker (LH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and C-103 radio and CD player connector terminal No.28, 38.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector C-225, and repair if necessary.
  • <Front door speaker (RH)> Check the wire harness between F-08 front door speaker (RH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and C-103 radio and CD player connector terminal No.26, 36.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector C-212, and repair if necessary.
  • <Rear door speaker (LH)> Check the wire harness between F-23 rear door speaker (LH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and C-103 radio and CD player connector terminal No.27, 37.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connectors C-26 and F-22, and repair if necessary.
  • <Rear door speaker (RH)> Check the wire harness between F-20 rear door speaker (RH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and C-103 radio and CD player connector terminal No.25, 35.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connectors C-17 and F-21, and repair if necessary.
  • <Tweeter (LH)> Check the wire harness between F-02 tweeter (LH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and C-103 radio and CD player connector terminal No.38, 28.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector C-225, and repair if necessary.
  • <Tweeter (RH)> Check the wire harness between F-03 tweeter (RH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and C-103 radio and CD player connector terminal No.36, 26.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector C-212, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 6. Connector check: F-11 <front-LH>, F-08 <front-RH>, F-23 <rear-LH> or F-20 <rear-RH> door speaker connector, F-02 <LH>, F-03 <RH> tweeter connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 7. Check the speaker or tweeter.


(1)Remove the speaker or tweeter. Refer to .
(2)Check that the speaker or tweeter outputs the noise when the voltage of 5 V is applied to the speaker or tweeter connector terminal.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.
Replace the speaker or tweeter.

STEP 8. Connector check: C-103 radio and CD player connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 9.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 9. Check the wire harness between the speaker or tweeter connector terminal and the radio and CD player connector terminal.


Follow the speaker test to check which speaker or tweeter circuit is defective.
Check the communication lines for open circuit and short circuit.

  • <Front door speaker (LH)> Check the wire harness between F-11 front door speaker (LH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and C-103 radio and CD player connector terminal No.28, 38.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector C-225, and repair if necessary.
  • <Front door speaker (RH)> Check the wire harness between F-08 front door speaker (RH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and C-103 radio and CD player connector terminal No.26, 36.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector C-212, and repair if necessary.
  • <Rear door speaker (LH)> Check the wire harness between F-23 rear door speaker (LH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and C-103 radio and CD player connector terminal No.27, 37.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connectors C-26 and F-22, and repair if necessary.
  • <Rear door speaker (RH)> Check the wire harness between F-20 rear door speaker (RH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and C-103 radio and CD player connector terminal No.25, 35.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connectors C-17 and F-21, and repair if necessary.
  • <Tweeter (LH)> Check the wire harness between F-02 tweeter (LH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and C-103 radio and CD player connector terminal No.38, 28.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector C-225, and repair if necessary.
  • <Tweeter (RH)> Check the wire harness between F-03 tweeter (RH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and C-103 radio and CD player connector terminal No.36, 26.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector C-212, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 10. Retest the system


Replace the audio amplifier, then check that the audio sound is output.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the radio and CD player.
