Inspection Procedure 2: No sound is heard. <Vehicles with audio amplifier>


caution Before replacing the multivision display, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

PROBABLE CAUSES



  • Malfunction of multivision display
  • Malfunctions of speaker, tweeter or subwoofer
  • Malfunction of audio amplifier
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Checking with speaker test
Perform the speaker test, and check which speaker, tweeter or subwoofer does not output the sound. Refer to .

Q. Is the check result normal?
YES : The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
NO (No speaker, tweeter and subwoofer sound.) : Go to Step 2.
NO (No sound is heard from one of the speaker, tweeter and subwoofer.) : Go to Step 8.

STEP 2. Connector check: F-11 <front-LH>, F-08 <front-RH>, F-23 <rear-LH> or F-20 <rear-RH> door speaker connector, F-02 <LH>, F-03 <RH> tweeter connector, D-14 subwoofer connector

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 3. Check the speaker, tweeter or subwoofer.
(1)Remove the speaker, tweeter or subwoofer. Refer to .
(2)Check that the speaker, tweeter or subwoofer outputs the noise when the voltage of 5 V is applied to the speaker, tweeter or subwoofer connector terminal.

Q. Do the speaker output the noise?
Go to Step 4.
Replace the speaker, tweeter or subwoofer.

STEP 4. Connector check: D-07 <front door speaker or sub woofer>, D-06 <tweeter or rear door speaker> audio amplifier connector

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 5. Check the wire harness between the speaker, tweeter or subwoofer connector terminal and the audio amplifier connector terminal.
Check the communication lines for open circuit and short circuit.

  • <Front door speaker (LH)> Check the wire harness between F-11 front door speaker (LH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and D-07 audio amplifier connector terminal No.28, 38.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connectors C-16 and C-225, and repair if necessary.
  • <Front door speaker (RH)> Check the wire harness between F-08 front door speaker (RH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and D-07 audio amplifier connector terminal No.27, 37.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connectors C-16 and C-212, and repair if necessary.
  • <Rear door speaker (LH)> Check the wire harness between F-23 rear door speaker (LH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and D-06 audio amplifier connector terminal No.6, 14.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector F-22, and repair if necessary.
  • <Rear door speaker (RH)> Check the wire harness between F-20 rear door speaker (RH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and D-06 audio amplifier connector terminal No.1, 7.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector F-21, and repair if necessary.
  • <Tweeter (LH)> Check the wire harness between F-02 tweeter (LH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and D-06 audio amplifier connector terminal No.13, 5.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connectors C-16 and C-225, and repair if necessary.
  • <Tweeter (RH)> Check the wire harness between F-03 tweeter (RH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and D-06 audio amplifier connector terminal No.8, 2.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connectors C-16 and C-212, and repair if necessary.
  • <Subwoofer> Check the wire harness between D-14 subwoofer connector terminal No.1, 2, 3, 4 and D-07 audio amplifier connector terminal No.30, 22, 29, 21.

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 6. Connector check: C-104 multivision display connector

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 7. Check the harness wire between C-104 multivision display connector terminal No.26, 36, 28, 38, 25, 35 and D-06 audio amplifier connector No.10, 11, 4, 12, 46, 53.

  • Check the communication lines for open circuit and short circuit.
note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector C-16 and C-17, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?
Check the trouble symptom, go to Step 14.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 8. Connector check: F-11 <front-LH>, F-08 <front-RH>, F-23 <rear-LH> or F-20 <rear-RH> door speaker connector, F-02 <LH>, F-03 <RH> tweeter connector, D-14 subwoofer connector

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 9
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 9. Check the speaker, tweeter or subwoofer.
Follow the speaker test to check which speaker, tweeter or subwoofer does not sound.
(1)Remove the speaker, tweeter or subwoofer. Refer to .
(2)Check that the speaker, tweeter or subwoofer outputs the noise when the voltage of 5 V is applied to the speaker, tweeter or subwoofer connector terminal.

Q. Do the speaker output the noise?
Go to Step 10.
Replace the speaker, tweeter or subwoofer.

STEP 10. Connector check: D-07 <front door speaker or sub woofer>, D-06 <tweeter or rear door speaker> audio amplifier connector

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 11
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 11. Check the wire harness between the speaker, tweeter or subwoofer connector terminal and the audio amplifier connector terminal.
Follow the speaker test to check which speaker, tweeter or subwoofer circuit is defective.
Check the communication lines for open circuit and short circuit.

  • <Front door speaker (LH)> Check the wire harness between F-11 front door speaker (LH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and D-07 audio amplifier connector terminal No.28, 38.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connectors C-16 and C-225, and repair if necessary.
  • <Front door speaker (RH)> Check the wire harness between F-08 front door speaker (RH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and D-07 audio amplifier connector terminal No.27, 37.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connectors C-16 and C-212, and repair if necessary.
  • <Rear door speaker (LH)> Check the wire harness between F-23 rear door speaker (LH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and D-06 audio amplifier connector terminal No.6, 14.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector F-22, and repair if necessary.
  • <Rear door speaker (RH)> Check the wire harness between F-20 rear door speaker (RH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and D-06 audio amplifier connector terminal No.1, 7.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector F-21, and repair if necessary.
  • <Tweeter (LH)> Check the wire harness between F-02 tweeter (LH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and D-06 audio amplifier connector terminal No.13, 5.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connectors C-16 and C-225, and repair if necessary.
  • <Tweeter (RH)> Check the wire harness between F-03 tweeter (RH) connector terminal No.1, 2 and D-06 audio amplifier connector terminal No.8, 2.
    note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connectors C-16 and C-212, and repair if necessary.
  • <Subwoofer> Check the wire harness between D-14 subwoofer connector terminal No.1, 2, 3, 4 and D-07 audio amplifier connector terminal No.30, 22, 29, 21.

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 12
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 12. Connector check: C-104 multivision display connector

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 13.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 13. Check the harness wire between C-104 multivision display connector terminal No.26, 36, 28, 38, 25, 35 and D-06 audio amplifier connector No.10, 11, 4, 12, 46, 53.

  • Check the communication lines for open circuit and short circuit.
note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector C-16 and C-17, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?
Check the trouble symptom, go to Step 14.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 14. Retest the system
Check if the sound is output from all the speaker, tweeter or subwoofer.

Q. Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the multivision display.
