Removal steps


1.
Steering column upper cover (Refer to GROUP 52A, Instrument Panel Assembly ).


2.
Steering column lower cover (Refer to GROUP 52A, Instrument Panel Assembly ).


3.
Windshield wiper and washer switch


4.
Lighting switch (with built-in column-ECU)

COLUMN SWITCH BODY


caution
  • To remove the driver airbag module, refer to GROUP 52B - Service Precautions and Driver/Front Passenger’s Air Bag Module and Clock Spring .
  • After the installation, perform a calibration for the ASC-ECU to learn the steering wheel sensor neutral point. (Refer to GROUP 35C, On-vehicle Service - Steering Wheel Sensor Calibration ). <Vehicles with ASTC>
Pre-removal operation
  • Check of steering wheel straight-ahead position
  • Removal of steering wheel assembly (Refer to GROUP 52B - Air Bag Module(s) and Clock Spring .)
  • Removal of steering column lower cover, steering column upper cover (Refer to GROUP 52A - Instrument Panel Assembly .)
  • Removal of Clock spring (Refer to GROUP 52B - Driver’s Front Passenger’s Air Bag Module and Clock Spring ).

Post-installation operation
  • Installation of Clock spring (Refer to GROUP 52B - Driver’s Front Passenger’s Air Bag Module and Clock Spring ).
  • Installation of steering column lower cover, steering column upper cover (Refer to GROUP 52A - Instrument Panel Assembly .)
  • Installation of steering wheel assembly (Refer to GROUP 52B - Air Bag Module(s) and Clock Spring .)
  • Check of steering wheel straight-ahead position
