Code No. P0513: Immobilizer Malfunction




FUNCTION



  • The engine-ECU transmits to and receives from KOS-ECU <Vehicles with KOS> or WCM-ECU <Vehicles with WCM> a control signal to authenticate the ignition key.
note
  • This code may be displayed due to radio interference if there are multiple registered ignition keys nearby during engine start.
  • This code may be displayed when the transponder ID code is registered.
  • This code is also displayed when the ignition key code is not recognized.
  • When this code is displayed, it is also sent to KOS-ECU <Vehicles with KOS> or WCM-ECU <Vehicles with WCM>

TROUBLE JUDGMENT


Check Condition
  • Ignition switch: ON
Judgement Criteria
  • When it was different in the encrypted code sent from KOS-ECU <Vehicles with KOS> or WCM-ECU <Vehicles with WCM> and operation result by engine-ECU.

PROBABLE CAUSES



  • Failed KOS-ECU <Vehicles with KOS> or WCM-ECU <Vehicles with WCM>
  • Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. M.U.T.-III other system diagnosis code



  • Reconfirmation whether diagnosis code is output from KOS-ECU <Vehicles with KOS> or WCM-ECU <Vehicles with WCM>.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Perform the troubleshooting of KOS-ECU <Vehicles with KOS> or WCM-ECU <Vehicles with WCM> (Refer to GROUP 42B - Troubleshooting - Diagnosis Code Chart <Vehicles with KOS>, Refer to GROUP 42C - Troubleshooting - Diagnosis Code Chart <Vehicles with WCM>).
Go to Step 2 .

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code



  • Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the KOS-ECU <Vehicles with KOS> or WCM-ECU <Vehicles with WCM>. After the replacement, put the each identification code into KOS-ECU <Vehicles with KOS> or WCM-ECU <Vehicles with WCM>. (Refer to GROUP 42B - On-vehicle Service - ID Code Registration Procedure <Vehicles with KOS>, Refer to GROUP 42C - On-vehicle Service - ID Code Registration Procedure <Vehicles with WCM>). Then go to Step 3 .
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent malfunctions ).

STEP 3. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code



  • Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the engine-ECU.
