Code No. P0011: Variable Valve Timing System
OPERATION
FUNCTION
- The engine-ECU controls the spool valve position of the
oil feeder control valve corresponding to the driving condition of the engine and continuously
changes the phase of the camshaft.
- The phase angle of the camshaft is computed from the signal patterns of the crank angle
sensor and camshaft position sensor.
TROUBLE JUDGMENT
Check Conditions
- More than 20 seconds have passed since the engine starting sequence was completed.
- Engine speed is more than 1,188 r/min.
- Engine coolant temperature is more than 76°C.
- Difference between intake valve open timing and target intake valve open timing
is more than 5°CA for 5 seconds.
FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
- None
PROBABLE CAUSES
- Failed oil feeder control valve
- Damage in oil feeder control valve circuit or loose connector contact
- Failed timing sprocket operation
- Clogged oil passage
- Failed camshaft
- Failed engine-ECU
