Code No. P0830: Clutch Monitoring Switch Circuit

OPERATION

  • The power voltage is supplied to the clutch monitoring switch connector terminal from the AS&G-ECU connector terminal CLT1.
  • The clutch monitoring switch connector terminal is earthed to the vehicle body.

FUNCTION

  • The AS&G-ECU detects the state of the depressed clutch pedal by using the signal of the clutch monitoring switch.
  • In response to the signal, the AS&G-ECU controls the AS&G system.

TROUBLE JUDGMENT

Check Condition
  • Ignition switch is "ON" position.
  • Diagnosis code No. U0100 is not detected.
Judgement Criterion
  • Although the driving is more than 60 km/h during the previous driving, the ON/OFF signal of the clutch monitoring switch is not changed even once.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION

  • In the normal operation, the auto stop is prohibited.

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Open/short circuit or harness damage in clutch monitoring switch circuit or loose connector contact
  • Failed clutch monitoring switch
  • Failed installation of clutch monitoring switch
  • Failed clutch pedal
  • Failed AS&G-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III data list

  • Refer to Data List Reference Table .

  1. item 6: Clutch monitoring switch (upper)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the installation state of the clutch monitoring switch and check the clutch pedal.

  • Check the installation state of the clutch monitoring switch.
  • Check whether the installation portion of the clutch monitoring switch of the clutch pedal is not damaged.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Repair or replace.

STEP 3. Check the clutch monitoring switch itself.

  • Check the clutch monitoring switch itself (Refer to GROUP 21A - Clutch Pedal - Inspection ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Replace the clutch monitoring switch.

STEP 4. Perform voltage measurement at clutch monitoring switch connector.

  • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
  • Ignition switch: ON
  • Voltage between terminal AS&G-ECU CLT1 line and earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.
Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check of short to earth, and open circuit in CLT1 line between AS&G-ECU connector and clutch monitoring switch connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

  • Reconfirmation of the diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the AS&G-ECU.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).

STEP 7. Perform resistance measurement at clutch monitoring switch connector terminal.

  • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
  • Resistance between terminal earthing line and earth.
OK: Continuity (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.

Repair the connector(s), or check of open circuit, and harness damage in earthing line between clutch monitoring switch connector and body earth.

STEP 8. Check harness damage in CLT1 line between AS&G-ECU connector and clutch monitoring switch connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
