REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION



MIS-OPERATION PREVENTION MECHANISM


caution
  • When performing the shift lock cable replacement, avoid adjusting the brake pedal height as much as possible. If the height adjustment is needed, the adjustment amount must be within ± 8 mm, and be sure to assemble the shift lock cable again after the adjustment.
  • Do not subject the SRS-ECU to any shocks when removing the shift lock cable or key interlock cable.
Pre-removal Operation
  • Floor console tray removal (Refer to GROUP 52A - Floor Console Assembly .)
  • Front seat assembly removal (Refer to GROUP 52A - Seat Assembly .)
  • Front scuff plate and cowl side trim removal (Refer to GROUP 52A - Door Trim .)
  • Instrument panel under cover and steering column lower cover removal (Refer to GROUP 52A - Instrument Panel Assembly .)
  • SRS-ECU removal (Refer to GROUP 52B - SRS-ECU .)
  • Shift the selector lever to the P position.
  • Turn the electric motor switch to the ACC position.

Post-installation operation
  • Floor console tray installation (Refer to GROUP 52A - Floor Console Assembly .)
  • Front seat assembly installation (Refer to GROUP 52A - Seat Assembly .)
  • Front scuff plate and cowl side trim installation (Refer to GROUP 52A - Door Trim .)
  • Instrument panel under cover and steering column lower cover installation (Refer to GROUP 52A - Instrument Panel Assembly .)
  • SRS-ECU installation (Refer to GROUP 52B - SRS-ECU .)
  • Key interlock mechanism check (Refer to .)
  • Shift lock mechanism check (Refer to .)

REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS



<<A>> SHIFT LOCK CABLE AND KEY INTERLOCK CABLE CONNECTION (SELECTOR LEVER SIDE)


caution At the removal, if any deformation occurs to the inner cable or outer cable, be sure to replace the cable with a new one.


Insert a flat-tipped screwdriver to the notch shown in the figure, and pry the screwdriver for removal.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS



>>A<< KEY INTERLOCK CABLE AND SHIFT LOCK CABLE INSTALLATION




Route the key interlock cable to the vehicle front side of air mix damper motor & potentiometer. Then, to the section of heater case shown in the figure, assemble with the shift lock cable positioned at lower side and the key interlock cable positioned at upper side.

>>B<< KEY INTERLOCK CABLE CONNECTION (STEERING SIDE)



1.Set the electric motor switch to the ACC position. Then, with the phase aligned, insert the inner cable tip into the steering lock to the direction of arrow.
2.Check that the claw of outer cable socket is securely engaged. Then, turn the electric motor switch to the LOCK (OFF) position, and fix the inner cable.

>>C<< KEY INTERLOCK CABLE CONNECTION (SELECTOR LEVER SIDE)


1.Shift the selector lever to the P position, and turn the electric motor switch to the LOCK (OFF) position.

2.While paying attention not to twist the inner cable, align the cable with the cable installation hole of key lock cam, and then fully insert the cable into the key lock cam hole by pressing the area A shown in the figure.
3.While paying attention not to bend the inner cable, position the outer cable to near the fixing section of selector lever bracket.
4.
caution When installing the key interlock cable to the selector lever bracket, be sure to insert by pressing the adjuster case. Do not push the lock piece.
With the lock piece lifted (unlocked state), slide the adjuster case upward while paying attention not to bend the inner cable tip, then install it to the fixing section of selector lever bracket.

5.While holding the key lock cam downward, securely lock the lock piece by pressing in the lock piece. Then, check that the adjuster case is flush with the lock piece.

>>D<< SHIFT LOCK CABLE CONNECTION (BRAKE PEDAL SIDE)



caution The plunger of shift lock cable unit must be in contact with the arm in the pedal side.
Securely fit the shift lock cable unit into the brake pedal bracket.

>>E<< SHIFT LOCK CABLE CONNECTION (SELECTOR LEVER SIDE)


1.Shift the selector lever to the P position, and turn the electric motor switch to the LOCK (OFF) position.

2.While paying attention not to twist the inner cable, insert the cable into the cable installation hole of shift lock cam.
3.While paying attention not to bend the inner cable, position the outer cable to near the fixing section of selector lever bracket.
4.
caution When installing the shift lock cable to the selector lever bracket, be sure to insert by pressing the adjuster case. Do not push the lock piece.
With the lock piece lifted (unlocked state), slide downward of the adjuster case, and install it to the fixing section of selector lever bracket.

5.While holding the key lock cam downward, press the cable outer section upward twice.
6.While holding the key lock cam downward, securely lock the lock piece by pressing in the lock piece. Then, check that the adjuster case is flush with the lock piece.
