Inspection Procedure 1: Keyless entry system does not work.



caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

PROBABLE CAUSES



  • Malfunction of the key reminder switch
  • Malfunction of the door switches
  • Malfunction of the tailgate switch
  • Malfunction of the transmitter
  • Malfunction of the driver’s door lock actuator
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnostics


Use M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q. Is the CAN bus normal?

Go to Step 2.
Repair the CAN bus line. (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting .)

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code


Check that ETACS-ECU sets a diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Refer to GROUP 54A, Diagnosis code chart .
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check the power supply circuit.


When the electric motor switch is turned to the LOCK position, check if the hazard warning lamp illuminate.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Refer to GROUP 54A, Inspection Procedure A-1 "Check the battery power supply circuit to the ETACS-ECU ."

STEP 4. Check the operation of the central door locking system.


Check that the central door locking system works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Refer to Trouble symptom chart .

STEP 5. M.U.T.-III data list


Check for the signals related to the keyless entry system operation.

  • Turn the electric motor switch to the LOCK position.
  • Remove the electric motor key from the electric motor key cylinder.
  • Close the driver’s door.
  • Close the front passenger’s doors.
  • Close the RH-side rear door.
  • Close the LH-side rear door.
  • Close the tailgate.

Q. Are the check result normal?

YES (Normal conditions are displayed for all the items.) : Go to Step 6.
NO (Normal condition is not displayed for item No. 19.) : Refer to GROUP 54A, Inspection Procedure 5 "The front door switch (driver’s side) signal is not received ."
NO (Normal condition is not displayed for item No. 20, 21.) : Refer to GROUP 54A, Inspection Procedure 4 "The front door lock actuator (driver’s side) signal is not received ."
NO (Normal condition is not displayed for item No. 28.) : Refer to GROUP 54A - Inspection Procedure 3: "The key reminder switch signal is not received ."
NO (Normal condition is not displayed for item No. 48.) : Refer to GROUP 54A, Inspection Procedure 6 "The front door switch (passenger’s side) signal is not received. ."
NO (Normal condition is not displayed for item No. 49.) : Refer to GROUP 54A, Inspection Procedure 7 "One of the door switch signals (including the tailgate latch switch) is not received ."

STEP 6. Retest the system.


Check the keyless entry system works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the ETACS-ECU and register the ID codes (Refer to GROUP 54A, Encrypted Code Registration Criteria Table ).
